ARTHEIST tattoo
I'm Carla, a tattoo artist from Italy.
I've been tattooing for 10 years now. I did a brief apprenticeship at the beginning of my career, but I soon realised that what I was being taught lacked originality and technique. So, I chose a different path and began studying portrait painting at the Accademia delle Belle Arti of Genoa, starting with watercolours and later embracing oil and digital painting.
Eventually, I decided to fully commit to colour realism, creating every tattoo design from scratch—never downloading images from the internet, just as I did for my paintings. After a couple of years, I had built trust with my clients, who appreciated my attention to detail and the vibrancy of my healed work.
I then opened my own tattoo studio in Genoa, Artem Tattoo. It began as a private studio, and now I work there alongside my husband, who specialises in blackwork.
Over the past year, I’ve been focusing on portraits and surrealism, drawing inspiration from Caravaggio’s chiaroscuro painting style.
